On November 5, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially announced the addition of decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) to the SVHC list. This brings the total number of SVHC candidate substances on the EU list to 251.

New substance information is as follows:

SVHC regulatory requirements:

REACH regulations stipulate that when the SVHC content of an article is greater than 0.1%, information must be communicated within the supply chain; when the SVHC content of an article is greater than 0.1% and the annual export volume is greater than 1 tonne, notification must be made to ECHA.

According to the EU Waste Framework Directive, from January 5, 2021, suppliers of articles with an SVHC content exceeding 0.1% placed on the EU market should submit relevant information about the articles to ECHA through the SCIP database.
